As part of a fourth-generation family business, we have for over 100 years forged strong links with the communities in which we live and work. We believe in having a sense of purpose beyond profit and in being a good corporate citizen. To that tend, the team at Western Pension Solutions and K3 are undertaking the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge with the aim of raising a minimum of £3,000 for the Prince’s Trust who help disadvantaged young people to get their lives on track.
On 7 May 2019, WPS and K3 as a team, will undertake this challenge, hiking across the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, within a 12 hour timescale crossing 24 miles (38.6km) including a 1585m (5200ft) of ascent.
As Ben Fowler, Managing Director of WPS explains, “The Prince’s Trust supports 11 to 30-year-olds who are unemployed and those struggling at school and at risk of exclusion. Many of the young people helped by the Trust are in or leaving care, facing issues such as homelessness or mental health problems, or have been in trouble with the law. In 2016-17 the Trust supported 57,667 young people. Three in four young people supported by The Prince’s Trust move into work, education or training, after completing a Trust programme.”
“As a team we are coming together to help inspire future generations and empower disenfranchised and vulnerable young people to get on track and achieve their ambitions. This year our support is channelled through the Prince’s Trust. We are a people business, so we want to empower our employees to take ownership of how we support our local communities, both in the workplace and where they live. That’s why we have decided that in 2020 we are going to put on our boots and walk to raise funds for a truly worthy cause.”
How the money you give can help:
£150 could provide two hours of one to one mentoring for 5 young people.
£400 funds a place on a school club, helping a young person finish their education and reach their potential.
£500 funds the Prince’s Trust helpline for a day, providing support and advice to 173 young people.
£1,500 funds a place on the Prince’s Trust four-day enterprise course, so a young aspiring entrepreneur can begin their journey into self-employment.
We would really love your support and if you would like to make a donation please do so via our JustGiving page here
Every penny counts and will help spur us on to reach the goal.
Thank you in advance for your support.
